Coopers Lane School aims to continue to provide an ambitious and broad curriculum in all subjects during the current Covid19 pandemic. There will inevitably be times over the coming weeks and months when some children will need to isolate at home. In the event of an isolation period, we will provide learning resources for the children online, using Google Classroom. Where possible, this will closely follow the same curriculum as taught in school.
As you are aware, we used Google Classroom successfully through the previous lockdown period. However, we have made the following significant improvements for this year:
* Each child (Reception to Year 6) has their own individual login – this can be found inside their reading journal (KS2), reading log (KS1) or Busy Book (Reception).
* Learning tasks will be assigned daily
* Children are expected to submit their work
* Teachers will provide regular feedback
* Children and parents can message teachers directly through Google Classroom if they have questions about the learning
The content provided on Google Classroom will depend on whether it is individual children or a whole class who are in isolation. The following table (click to enlarge) gives a summary of what we are able to provide – see the sections highlighted in green. Please be aware that this is subject to change , as we will be reviewing our remote learning offer regularly. Working in this way is new to us all, so please be understanding and patient as we continue to improve what we can offer.
Remote Learning Exercise Books
The children will all be sent home with the following books on Monday 28th September. Please keep them safe so they are ready to be used in the event of any isolation period:
Reception: A remote learning busy book
Year 1-6: A Maths book and a lined exercise book for all other learning
We recently asked all families to complete a short, 2 question survey to find out if you have access to wifi and a laptop, computer or tablet. If you have not yet completed this, please do so. If your child is in isolation, but does not have access to the necessary technology in order to use Google Classroom, please get in touch via the school office. We will do our best to help you in any way we can:
