After School Club Provisions:

At Coopers Lane, we are committed to providing a wide range of after school activities for all age groups across the school. This offer is something we are really proud of.

We have had to make some changes to our September provision, and we have decided to outsource the clubs rather than manage them ‘in house’. We have considered this carefully, and are pleased to tell you that we will be working with a brilliant company called Sportacus (https://www.sportacus.co.uk/). They work in partnership with many local schools and the feedback we have received has been very positive.

Presently, the club administration is a full time office job. And due to the current pressure on school budgets, we can no longer manage to finance this position – or give over precious office time, in order to facilitate it. Additionally, we also have families who haven’t managed to keep on top of payments, and are now in debt to the school. We simply cannot afford to continue to operate in this way.

We have worked hard with the current companies to keep the session costs as low as possible. Although the move to Sportacus now means a slight increase in session price, we believe that it is still excellent value for money. Each session will now be £7 per child, which is still a competitive rate when you compare it with the cost of a childminder or external sports session of the same quality. As always, if the finances are a block to you accessing the provision we do ask that you get in touch with us. We will also continue to subsidise clubs for all children accessing Pupil Premium funding, offering a 50% reduction per child, per term.

We have selected the club options for the Autumn term, keeping it similar to what we have at the moment. However, as there is scope for a wider range of club options, we will send out a survey in October. This will ensure we are responding to the needs of the school community.

Autumn Term Offer

Monday – Dodgeball (Reception to Year 6) and Art (Key Stage 1)

Tuesday – Football (Reception to Year 6) and Art (Key Stage 2)

Wednesday – Dance and Forest School (Reception to Year 6)

Thursday – Gymnastics and Lego (Reception to Year 6)

Friday – Multi-skills and Drama (Reception to Year 6)

This new approach means that we will now have the capacity to host all siblings in a club, on the same day. We hope that this will be supportive for families.

The booking system is now open, and further details can be found on the attached Sportacus letter. Currently, we have unlimited spaces available in all classes, apart from Art (which has a capacity of 30).

Music Instrument Lessons at Coopers Lane

At Coopers Lane our love of music begins as soon as we join the school. Our Nursery and Reception classes all have a range of musical instruments where we start to learn about rhythm, pitch and volume. Learning through play, we use our imagination and creativity to express ourselves and how we are feeling. As we progress through the school, we continue learning the language of music, understanding that every culture makes music which speaks to us in different ways. During our time here, we are given the chance to learn how to play recorders, ukuleles and steel pans with specialist teachers and we have a wonderful school choir who regularly perform in the Lewisham Live Voices concert at the Catford Broadway Theatre.

Coopers Lane also offer private tuition for the following instruments:

Drums

Piano

Violin

MUSIC CLUBS ARE CURRENTLY ALL FULL AT THE MOMENT BUT A WAITING LIST IS AVAILABLE AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE.

Please note that once your child starts instrumental lesson they will continue automatically unless you give a terms notice to terminate the lessons, they do not need to be renewed like other clubs.

Music lessons are largely taken during the school day and are not an after school club
