Welcome to Coopers Lane

CPLSOSSS16 (28)

Welcome to Coopers Lane Primary School.  We are a proud London school and celebrate our great city through many aspects of our learning. All of our classes are named after London Underground stations and we even have a real tube carriage in our playground!

Our website offers a wealth of information about all areas of the school, together with news posts, photo galleries and details of the provision we offer our pupils. I hope you enjoy exploring the website and finding out about our wonderful school.

You can find out more information here.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is action packed and full of interactive and exciting learning opportunities throughout the key stages.  It is stimulating, engaging and promotes independence.

Children become explorers and detectives to find out more about the world around them and significant historical periods.  Trips and visits linked to engaging topics helps bring their learning to life.

ENGLISH

A child’s ability to communicate is vital to all aspects of their learning, so English learning cuts across all areas of the curriculum. We also plan for literacy-specific learning every day in school, in line with the expectations of the National Curriculum.

MATHS

We use the White Rose Maths scheme of work which breaks down the curriculum for each year group into smaller topics. These topics will be taught through the three aims of fluency skills, reasoning and problem solving, differentiated to provide appropriate challenge to all children. We also teach the children different ways to represent calculations with a focus on using the Bar Model.

SCIENCE

Through the teaching of science we encourage an interest in and an understanding of our world. There are four main areas of learning in science comprising scientific enquiry, life processes and living things, materials and their properties and physical processes.

TOPICS

Engaging half-termly topics provide the context for learning for each year group, with work planned to encompass all subjects across the curriculum. The half-termly curriculum overviews, with detail about what is taught in each subject,  can now be downloaded.
