Welcome to Reception 2020
I would like to welcome all of our new families to the Coopers Lane School community.
We are living in strange and challenging times and we know that many of you will be wondering what September will look like for the children starting school. There is still a great deal that is unknown but we expect all children to be in school again by September. At Coopers Lane we are planning for a range of scenarios, which will be adapted as announcements and clarifications come from the Government.
We have had to adjust our transition into school and have planned some remote activities that will help put your child at ease and get them feeling excited for school in the new academic year. At Coopers Lane, we aim to build an excellent relationship between home and school. Whilst this may start off as more of a virtual relationship, this remains a priority for us. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further information. Currently, email is the best way to get in touch via info@cooperslane.lewisham.sch.uk and we will respond as soon as we can.
Unfortunately, we are unable to hold our home visits in the usual way, so instead we have planned a Zoom Visit for you with the class teacher. You will receive a letter with all of the dates and times for the meetings shortly. This is an informal 10-minute chat to get to know you and your child. It is also an opportunity for you to meet the Reception team and ask any questions you may have about starting school.
We have made a welcome film for you which has some information about the school and virtual tours of each classroom with a little welcome from each of the Early Years Team who will be working with your child. We have also made videos of story time with the Class Teachers and Nursery Nurses.
- Welcome Film for all new parents
- Story time for Baker Street
- Story time for Waterloo
- Story time for Piccadilly Circus
The BBC have also got a wealth of information about starting school that may be useful in the months leading up to September, which can be found here
Whilst we cannot be sure exactly what September will look like, we can be sure that your child’s first day at school will be a momentous event in their life. We are excited to welcome our new pupils and cannot wait to see them at Coopers Lane to start their learning journey. Our Early Years Team very much look forward to meeting you and your child for the Zoom meeting.
