Update on School Closure – Thursday 1st March 2018
Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
Due to the weather warnings and today’s forecast, we have made the following decision.
Nursery and Reception classes will be closed. The rest of the school will be open for Years 1 to 6 but we will be closing at lunchtime.
Due to the current weather conditions, we have a reduced staff in school and as a result could not open for the whole day. The lunchtime period was particularly challenging to cover with staff, meaning we could not remain open during this time. In addition to this, the weather report for this afternoon is for further snow, making road conditions difficult for staff and families travelling home. I understand that, particularly for working parents, this arrangement is very challenging, however we have done our best to have the school open for as long as possible. We will continue to monitor the weather throughout the day to keep you updated about school opening tomorrow.
Any children unable to make it in to school today as a result of the weather conditions will be marked in the register as ‘exceptional circumstances’.
The arrangements for collection today are as follows:
12:15 pm Year 1 * from classroom via KS1 building
12:15 pm Year 2 * from classroom via KS1 building
12:30 pm Year 3 * from the Gym (external door)
12:30 pm Year 4 * from the KS2 Hall
12:45 pm Year 5 * from the KS2 Hall
12:45 pm Year 6 * from the Gym (external door)
The children will not be given lunch at school today.
We are urging parents not to drive to school and please take care when walking on the street.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused, but hope that you can understand the difficulty we face in these unusual circumstances. Thank you for your understanding.
